Job Title: Pianist/Accompanist for Boone’s Creek Baptist Church Music Ministry
Job Type: Part-Time
Work Hours: Minimum 5 to 6 hours weekly, Sunday AM and PM worship /Choir Rehearsals
Salary: Negotiable with annual review by the Personnel Committee and approved by Church vote.
General Description:
Boone’s Creek Baptist Church exists to spread God’s glory from our neighbors to the nations. The pianist/accompanist will help accomplish that mission by providing God-centered, Christ-exalting music that ministers to the church body and facilitates corporate worship, performed with excellence in accordance with our mission and goals.
General Information:
The Pianist/Accompanist will accompany the Sunday AM and PM worship services as well as work with the sanctuary choir and other musicians during choir rehearsals. In addition to these services, there may be other rehearsals and performances throughout the year, such as scheduled revivals and dress rehearsals for Christmas and Easter.
The Pianist/Accompanist shall be comfortable with the performance of various musical styles such as hymns, spirituals, classical anthems, and contemporary music.
This position provides two (2) Sundays per year to be taken as paid vacation. Two (2) additional paid Sundays per year will be available, as needed, for other ministerial responsibilities or spiritual development.
There are no other benefits afforded to this Part-Time position except for the matching of Social Security and Medicare taxes.
The Pianist/Accompanist may play for weddings and funerals as arranged and compensated by the individual requesting such services. Music shall be appropriate to the decorum of the sanctuary. The Pianist/Accompanist may provide private piano instruction within the church building and be compensated by the individual(s) requesting such services.
The Pianist/Accompanist reports to and is supervised by the Minister of Music, but employment is through the Church Personnel Committee of Boone’s Creek Baptist Church.
Minimum Requirements:
Must be a Christian, having a vital relationship with Jesus Christ showing evidence through the practice of spiritual disciplines with dependence upon the Holy Spirit. They must have a testimony of their saving relationship with Jesus Christ.
Employment is dependent upon receiving an acceptable Background Check as evaluated by the Personnel Committee.
Job Qualifications:
- Demonstrate piano proficiency with performances.
- Be able to read music.
- Have a shared responsibility approach while working with others.
- Appreciate that music is part of the worship service.
- Have experience playing the piano during worship services.
- Have experience rehearsing and accompanying choral ensembles.
- Be able to work effectively with the possibility of interruptions or distractions.
- Be a good communicator.
